CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A man arrested, after a fatal shooting downtown, waived his rights on Sunday morning and did not appear before a bond court judge.

Charleston police say they arrested Douglas LaVance Young, 38, in connection with a fatal downtown shooting Saturday.

Christopher Mullen, 30, has been identified as the victim of the shooting. Mullen recently moved to Charleston from Bluffton, according to Sheila Williams with the Charleston County Coroner's Office.

Young is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Consolidated Dispatch received the initial call about the incident at 8:42 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the scene and found the victim, 30-year-old Christopher Mullen, who was transported by EMS to MUSC where he later died.

According to police, a witness observed Young pointing a black semi-automatic handgun at Mullen and shooting approximately three times. The witness was later able to identify Young, in a photo lineup, as the man who fired the weapon that killed Mullen.

Young will remain in the Al Cannon Detention Center. His first appearance date is set for September 29.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
