CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A woman lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a utility pole in east Charlotte Saturday morning. Nearly 1,000 east Charlotte residents were without power for some time due to the wreck.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the incident occurred on Pence Pond Lane and Pence Road around 3 a.m.

According to Duke Energy's outage map, power was restored to more than half of the residents shortly after 7 a.m. Power was expected to be restored for the remaining residents around 10 a.m.

Pence Road was shut down for several hours following the crash, but has since reopened. The driver told police that someone swerved in her lane and she tried to avoid hitting them.

No one was hurt in the crash.
