Rowan girls go 3-0 in World Series with win over Delaware

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

The girls of the Rowan County Little league softball team remain unbeaten in the World Series with a 4-1 win of East representative Bear, Delaware, on Friday afternoon.

Rowan took the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one with Rowan batting in the bottom of the fourth when there was an error, scoring two runs.

Rowan took an early lead in the first inning. Madelyn VonCanon drove in one when she doubled in the first inning.

In the top of the second inning, East tied things up at one. An error scored one run for East.

Rowan took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning.

Madelyn earned the win for Southeast. She threw five innings, giving up one run, eight hits, and striking out two. Kendall Robinson recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Rowan.

Brooke Kennerly and Madelyn each drove in one run to lead Rowan.

The Rowan girls next take the field in the first game on Sunday at 9:00 am Portland time, noon Rowan time, against Europe-Africa.
