Four injured in crash near University area of northeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

At least four people were injured in a crash in the University area of northeast Charlotte Thursday.

The wreck happened just after 4 p.m. on the 2200 block of Back Creek Church Road near Wakerobin Lane. Medic said one person was pinned in a vehicle and that four people were being treated for injuries.

At least two of the victims were taken to Carolinas Medical Center with very serious injuries. The other two were also taken to the hospital for what Medic described as minor injuries.

The victims' names have not been released.

From WBTV's Sky3, it appeared two vehicles struck head-on. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

Officials had the road closed at the scene.

There is no word on what may have led to the crash or if any charges are being filed.
