Rowan romp as girls win first game in World Series

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

Rowan County's girls got off to a great start in the Little League softball World Series on Wednesday night, beating the West Regional champs Cedar Valley, Utah,  17-7.

Rowan got on the board early scoring ten runs in the first.  

Madelyn VonCanon earned the win for Rowan. She threw three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs, five hits, and striking out one. 

Kenadi Sproul, Emma Clarke, Brooke Piper, Brooke, and Allie Burns each collected multiple hits for Rowan.

Rowan stole nine bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Bentli Meadows led the way with three.

Rowan faces Canada today at 1:00 pm Portland time. Canada lost in its first game by a score of 12-0 to Delaware.
