Knights Fall to PawSox 9-2 on Tuesday
Rymer Liriano Launches 12th Home Run of 2017 Season
(PAWTUCKET, RI) – Rymer Liriano launched his 12th home run of the season, but the Charlotte Knights dropped game two of their three-game series against the Pawtucket Red Sox on Tuesday night by a score of 9-2 from McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, RI.
Liriano hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning and finished the game 1-for-4. The Knights tallied a total of six hits on the evening and scored their only other run of the game in the fifth inning on an RBI double from Roberto Pena.
Jason Bourgeois moved closer to his 400th career hit in a Knights uniform. Bourgeois went 1-for-4 and is now just one hit away from joining the exclusive 400-hit club. Only Jordan Danks and Joe Borchard have accomplished that feat in franchise history.
RHP Tyler Danish (3-12, 5.27) started for the Knights and gave up eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits over four innings of work. Danish was charged with the loss, his 12th of the season. Chicago White Sox RHP Dylan Covey made his first rehab appearance with the Knights and gave up just one run on three hits over three innings pitched.
Pawtucket LHP Jalen Beeks (5-4, 3.18) earned the win with six solid innings pitched. He allowed one run on three hits for the victory. Deven Marrero homered for the PawSox, who won for the second consecutive night against the Knights.
The two teams will play the finale of their three-game set on Wednesday from Pawtucket, RI.
