Man identified in deadly shooting in southeast Charlotte

The man who was found shot to death inside a vehicle in southeast Charlotte Tuesday night was identified Wednesday. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they were called to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon on the 6700 block of Independence Boulevard at 7:18 p.m. Once there, they found an adult male, who was identified as 25-year-old Kyyri De Ji Marquis Doggette, with an apparent gunshot wound in a vehicle.

Doggette was pronounced dead at the scene.There is no word on a possible suspect.

Police said the incident does not appear to be a random crime. They said it is strange and rare to have an investigation take place in this part of southeast Charlotte.

Officers said their was one business open in the strip mall where the car was found. They said they are talking to some individuals from that business about the crime.
