CHARLOTTE, NC (Katherine Peralta and Theoden Janes/The Charlotte Observer) - Justin Bieber pulled himself out of his most recent concert tour last month, apparently for personal reasons, but he's obviously back on the road this week: Social media was flooded on Tuesday with images of the pop star attending a practice round for the PGA Championship at the Quail Hollow Club.
The 23-year-old "Despacito" singer, clad in a black hoodie and donning thick-rimmed black eyeglasses, posed with fans and event staff at several points throughout the course. (Garrett Tichy, who owns the coworking space Hygge Charlotte, tipped us off after spotting Bieber at the fourth hole.)
Lucy Person (daughter of staff writer Joe Person) snapped a photo of Bieber on the first hole, then followed him and his entourage to the fifth hole before he was whisked away to the clubhouse.
Bieber's most recent collisions with golf news include being spotted hanging out with PGA Tour star Rickie Fowler in South Florida back in April, and – more dubiously – getting name-dropped in a story British singer Ed Sheeran told about whacking Bieber in the cheek with a golf club.
The Biebs himself Instagrammed two photos of him at Quail Hollow on Tuesday afternoon, including this one:
More recently, Bieber's rep announced in a statement last month that "due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber will cancel the remainder of the Purpose World Tour concerts."
He later posted a message to fans that read:
"Im grateful for the tours but most of all I am grateful I get to go through this life WITH YOU!" he wrote. "Learning and growing hasn't always been easy but knowing I am not alone has kept me going. I have let my insecurities get the best of me at times."
"I let my broken relationships dictate the way I acted toward people and the way I treated them! I let bitterness, jealously and fear run my life.!!!!" he continued. "I am extremely blessed to have people in the past few years help me build my character back up reminding me of who I am and who I want to be!!!"
The Canadian pop star, as far as we know, was last in Charlotte in January 2013 as part of his "Believe" tour, which sold out what was then called Time Warner Cable Arena. He was 18 at the time.
