CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A tree fell on a ministry building in west Charlotte during Monday night's storms, forcing dozens of people in need out of their homes.

It happened at the Miracle House of Hope Ministry on Merriman Avenue, just off of West Boulevard.

The Red Cross is helping some of the people.

Photos posted on a GoFundMe page for the ministry show debris and damage to the building. The GoFundMe describes the ministry as "a Christian faith based outreach ministry that provides food, clothing and housing for men and women in transition and recovery from homelessness, abusive situations, prison, drug addiction and alcoholism."

Three residents were injured, according to the GoFundMe page.

"On August 7, 2017 natural disaster struck our ministry. During a thunder storm with heavy winds and rain a tree at the rear of our property was struck by lightning and fell on our complex," the GoFundMe says. Two homes and two vehicles were reportedly destroyed.

Anyone who would like to help or would like more information is asked to call the ministry at 704-430-5392.
