GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) -

A woman was killed in a crash after leaving church in Gastonia Sunday afternoon.

It happened around 12:16 p.m. in the 1700 block of Union Road.

Gastonia police say 80-year-old Patricia Deal was attempting to turn out of the Firestone Wesleyan Church parking lot when she was struck by a 2006 Jeep Cherokee. Deal went to CaroMont Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Carolinas Medical Center, where police say she died.

The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Police do not believe speed or impairment contributed to the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Gastonia Police Department at 704-866-6702.
