SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

In the middle of the bright colored lights, the fog machines, a cheering crowd, and the members of a classic rock band from the 1970's and 80's, members of the East Rowan Honors Chorus stood proudly and sang loudly, providing the lifting choral accompaniment to the rock anthem "I Want To Know What Love Is."

The concert was Saturday night at PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte.

In each city of its 40th anniversary tour, Foreigner held the "What Love Is" contest for local schools to submit an application and a video to be considered to perform on stage with the band.

Twenty-five students were selected, and on Saturday night, they walked on stage towards the end of the show to join the band for nearly six minute long performance.

Students taking part included: Emily Avalos, Bryce Coleman, McKenzie Collins, Emily Daubenmire, Bailey DeGroat, Ethan Diaz, Katie Eller, Grace Faller, Alex Gobbel, Gabe Hinceman, Ashton Hopper, Gracie Hudson, Hannah Julian, Hannah Mayhew, Ashley Medina, Cole McGraw, Leah Meisimer, Alyssa Potts, Taylor Seinerth, Imoni Smith, Allison Snider, Kaitlyn Thompson, Ashlie White, Logan Williams and Savannah Winters.
