CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Two men were arrested Friday for reportedly stealing a car from a parking lot of Ballantyne hotel.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, 25-year-old Jeffery Alonso Taylor and 22-year-old Jornell Eugene Bess were both charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

Police say a 2016 Ford Expedition was stolen from the parking lot of the Staybridge Suites on John J. Delaney Drive in Ballantyne between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Officers found the stolen vehicle around 11:15 a.m. Friday on South Boulevard and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Taylor, who is believed to be the driver, reportedly fled the scene, officers say. The officer did not pursue Taylor, police say.

The CMPD helicopter was able to find the stolen vehicle on Billy Graham Parkway and followed Taylor to West Boulevard. Police say Taylor and Bess then allegedly fled from the vehicle on Walter Street where they were arrested.

Taylor and Bess were also charged with possession of stolen goods, resisting a public officer, possessing drug paraphernalia and possessing a controlled substance. Taylor was charged with injury to personal property.
