Lancaster man arrested, accused of 11 property theft crimes

Sims Sims

A 25-year-old Lancaster man was arrested for allegedly being involved in over 11 property theft crimes.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, Christopher David Sims is accused of stealing a car, chainsaw, backpack blower, two push lawn mowers, trimmer and two skil saws from multiple homes and a storage room in the Lancaster area over a three-week period. Several of the items were then sold at a local pawn shop.

Sims was arrested Wednesday after an alarm went off at a home on Country Club Drive just before 3 a.m. Neighbors saw a man reportedly running away from the scene and saw a red Honda parked in their neighbor's driveway. The Honda had a license plate that was reported stolen on July 27.

Sims is facing several burglary, larceny and obtaining property by false pretenses charges.

Sims was placed in the Lancaster County Detention Center on bonds totaling $10,000.

Sheriff Barry Faile released this statement Friday:

“This was quite a string of property crimes, and we are happy we got it stopped.  We are also glad that just about all the stolen items were located and will be returned to the victims.”

If you have any information about these incidents, you're asked to call the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office at 803-283-3388.
