Spencer, NC (WBTV) -

Dozens of firefighters from departments in three counties fought a fire inside a large garage beside a home on Whisnant Drive near the town of Spencer on Friday night.

The call came in just after 6:00 pm.

Family members told WBTV they believed that lightning may have sparked the fire that burned a building containing a 40 foot motor home, as well as several other vehicles.

A thunderstorm did pass through the area during that time.

Because of the location of the home and garage, water had to be trucked in by tankers from several different fire departments.

Firefighters had to battle the flames and also the heat of the day.

The Rowan Rescue Squad was on site to keep firefighters supplied with air and also to keep them cool.

No one was injured.

At nearly the same time firefighters across the county battled a blaze on Foresail Road in the Anchor Downs community.  Details on that fire were not immediately available.
