Driver injured when Mercedes collides with church bus on I-77

ROCK HILL, S.C. (WBTV) -

One person was injured when a Mercedes and a church bus collided in Rock Hill Friday afternoon. 

According to the Rock Hill Fire Department, the two-vehicle rollover wreck occurred on North Cherry Road near Interstate 77. Firefighters tweeted about the crash around 2:19 p.m.

Rock Hill police say the driver of the Mercedes ran a red light and was then struck by the church bus. The Mercedes then rolled over on its side. 

The Mercedes driver received minor injuries, police say. 

Officers said there were seven people on the church bus at the time of the wreck, but none of the passengers were hurt. 

The driver of the Mercedes was cited for failure to yield the right of way, police said.
