Car crashes outside Charlotte expo center, sends one to hospital

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

One person was injured when a car crashed outside the Park Expo and Conference Center in southeast Charlotte Friday morning. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say it happened around 9:08 a.m. outside the center, in the 2500 block of E Independence Boulevard. 

The driver reportedly jumped the curb, hit a fence, swiped a utility pole and crashed into the steps outside the expo center. 

Medic says they took one person to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported.
