GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) -

A woman in Gaston County was arrested and charged with attempting to hire someone to kill her husband, according to Gastonia police.

Jessica Philbeck, 31, was booked into jail Monday for soliciting murder. She was placed under a $1 million bond.

Police say the person Philbeck allegedly tried to hire reported it to officials. The investigation began in mid-July.

Police say she and her husband, Thomas Pasour, are separated.

Michael Green, who works for Pasour and was outside his home on Monday, said the news was unexpected.

“I mean I knew she was crazy, I just didn’t know she was this crazy,” Green said. “Really I thought it was kind of crazy. I didn’t think she would do anything like this.”

Green said he knew there were relationship problems, but could only speculate on why Philbeck would want her husband killed.

“Mainly I think it was because of the kid, or she was just wanting to do her own thing,” he said.

Investigators have not released any further information.
