MEMPHIS, TN (WBTV) -

WBTV was honored this weekend with the 2017 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway Campaign of the Year in Memphis, TN.

WBTV News This Morning anchor Christine Sperow and Assistant News Director Kim Saxon accepted the award on behalf of the station – and both have played instrumental roles in the success of the initiative that has raised more than $3,000,000 in Charlotte since starting in 2014.

On the first day of sales this year, WBTV sold more than 35% of the available tickets offering viewers a chance to win a $440K home in Mint Hill, NC with a $100 raffle ticket.

That pace suggests strongly that WBTV will once again sell out its ticket allotment, which is 11,500 this year.

The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is a 25-year tradition that is one of the largest single-event fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital nationwide.

St. Jude is work to drive survival rate for childhood cancer to 90% in the next decade. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened over 50 years ago.
