Chesterfield County investigators say they are making progress in the death of a man who was found on a sand road last Wednesday.

Rashaad Jackson, 23, died of gunshots wounds. A farmer found his body on the side of Patrick Firetower Rd around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

SLED was called to process the crime scene. Sheriff Jay Brooks says there appeared to be a struggle in the road, and Jackson had gunshot wounds and other injuries all over his body.

Monday, Sheriff Brooks said they were interviewing his family, friends and enemies. It appears to have been a retaliation regarding something that happened in the past.

“We are looking at a gang connection,” Sheriff Brooks said.

No arrests have been made.
