Knights Fall to RailRiders 13-2 Thursday
Outfielder Jacob May Records Two Hits for Charlotte
(ROCHESTER, NY) -- The Charlotte Knights opened a four-game series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Thursday with a 13-2 loss from PNC Field in Moosic, PA. Outfielder Jacob May had two of Charlotte’s six hits. Rymer Liriano recorded his third triple of the year.
RHP Lucas Giolito (3-9, 5.38) started for the Knights and was charged with the loss. He allowed five runs on five hits over 1.2 innings pitched. LHP Will Lamb gave up six runs (two earned) on four hits over 3.1 innings out of the Charlotte bullpen. LHP Colton Turner gave up two runs over two innings, while RHP Brandon Brennan allowed just one hit over a scoreless inning in his Charlotte debut.
LHP Dietrich Enns (1-1, 2.10) struck out seven batters and allowed just one earned run over seven innings to earn the win. In all, he gave up two runs on six hits for the win. Two relievers combined to hold the Knights scoreless over the final two innings.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre hit a total of three home runs and used 12 hits to earn the win in the opener. Cito Culver went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run -- his ninth of the season. Tyler Wade chipped in with his sixth long ball of the year in the fifth frame, while Eddy Rodriguez also added his sixth of the year in the sixth inning.
The Knights will continue their four-game series against the RailRiders on Friday with a 7:05 p.m. game from PNC Field. RHP Reynaldo Lopez (6-5, 3.78) will get the start for the Knights against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RHP Chance Adams (6-3, 2.45).
