Three charged after surprise home visit turns up drugs, gun, phones

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

A surprise home visit by a probation officer in a seizure of drugs and other items, as well as three arrests.

According to Salisbury police, a probation officer made a home visit on Thursday night at around 7:00 pm to a home in the 800 block of Pine Street where Sebastian Rankin, Jr., 31, lived with Dichris Wood.

When the door was opened the probation officer and Salisbury police spotted drugs visible in a common area inside the house.  Police secured the home while officers obtained a search warrant.

The search revealed 11.6 grams of crack cocaine, 53 grams of ecstasy, 30.9 grams of heroin, 4.9 grams of powder cocaine, 38.2 grams of marijuana, and 10.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

A .38 handgun with ammunition was also found, along with ten cell phones and several items of drug paraphernalia.

Rankin was charged with three counts of drug possession for items found in his car.  Bond was set at $10,000.

Wood, 29, faces a total of ten charges, including drug possession, possession of a weapon by a felon, drug trafficking, trafficking heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond was set at $275,000.

Kennedy Brooke Campbell, 21, was charged with trafficking in heroin, as well as eight other charges that include drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Bond was set at $250,000.
