BLOG: Charlotte couple writes children's books in Belize

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

It was a big mail day. Carton full of children’s books. When I looked up the link attached inside the box, I got it...

The books are written and illustrated by Lisa Cryier and her husband Ronnie who both used to live in Charlotte. Their website says they grew tired of the “rat race.”

“We decided it was time for a major life change,” Cryier said. “We wanted to slow down, travel more and start living our lives.”

So, the couple worked hard to save money and sold everything they owned in 2014. The couple then moved to Belize.

I emailed her to thank her for the gift and she wrote back the nicest note.

“When I saw your Facebook post about my new country, and you were my old news person, I knew I had to send these," Cryier wrote. "I moved here and started doing what I always wanted to do. I always wanted to write children’s books. I created the character Dooley Bear who travels to different places. I love following my dream and was happy to share!"

Never know what mail day brings, but this sure was a surprise. Thank you, Lisa.
