Three month drug investigation results in several charges

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

A three month long drug investigation has resulted in an arrest and several charges against a Salisbury man.

On Wednesday afternoon Salisbury police arrested Jerry Lorenzo Hawthorne, 35, of Ferndale Drive.

Hawthorne was charged after he asked an undercover officer about buying a gun.

The arrest took place at a gas station on Jake Alexander Boulevard where Hawthorne was meeting with undercover officers.

Hawthorne was charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, four counts of drug possession, four counts of sell/deliver a controlled substance, two counts of possession with the intent to manufacture/sell/deliver, two counts of sell.deliver, and simple possession.

Bond was set at $200,000.

Police said that Hawthorne was selling heroin, ecstasy, morphine, methamphetamine, and promethazine with codeine.

    Mecklenburg County leaders reached an agreement Tuesday over who will police some of the county’s unincorporated areas. County leaders approved a 5-year extension with CMPD to police some of what they call “extra-territorial jurisdictions” or ETJ’s.
