SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

The Rowan County Commission is holding a special meeting on Monday to discuss finances related to the new western Rowan County elementary school.

The meeting will be held at 10:00 am in the Rowan County Administration building, 130 W. Innes Street.

According to Board Clerk Carolyn Barger, the purpose of the meeting is to provide a public hearing to consider financing proposals for planning, design, construction, and other related costs for the new school.

A $27.5 million loan will likely be used to pay for the new school, which will be built in Cleveland, replacing the current Cleveland Elementary School and Woodleaf Elementary School.

Those who wish to speak during the meeting will be limited to three minutes.  Comments must be limited to the topic of the hearing, and all speakers must address the board in a "civil and courteous" manner.

Commissioners may vote to approve the loan following the public hearing.
