CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Friday looks like it will be the hottest day of the year so far at 95° which will be the peak of this most recent heat wave. We had a few counties (Stanly, Anson, Richmond) added to a Heat Advisory for today, and these areas (perhaps a few more too) will likely be under one again for Friday. Expect Heat Indices 100°-105°.
Storms will be isolated to scattered at best over the next couple of evenings, and if you do see one, you'll probably consider yourself lucky to have the cool-down!
Heading into the weekend, it looks like storms may become a bit more widespread, especially on Saturday, as we're watching a weak front headed our way.
With more cloud cover and a little higher risk for rain, highs retreat back down to the lower 90s Saturday, then nearer to 90° for Sunday. Remember, the average high for the time of year is 89°, so we'd have to be talking triple digit temps to be into any sort of record territory.
