CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A woman who was injured when her car crashed into an apartment building in south Charlotte Thursday is facing several charges.

The wreck happened just before 4 p.m. at an apartment complex near the intersection of N. Wendover Road and Marvin Road in the Cotswold area of Charlotte. Police say the woman went down and embankment, through a fence and into the building.

Officials say the woman had struck two cars on Eastway Drive just before crashing into the apartment. They say a witness followed her until the crash.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

She is being charged with two counts of hit and run and one count of driving under the influence.
