Man wanted in Robeson County shooting arrested during traffic stop

A man who was wanted in connection with a shooting in Robeson County has been arrested. 

According to the Albemarle Police Department, 30-year-old Warren Cornell Lewis was arrested for reportedly shooting another person inside a home in Maxton while children were present. 

Police say Lewis was found hiding in the back seat of a vehicle during a traffic stop in Albemarle. Officers said Lewis was found laying down and was acting "nervous" when police approached him. 

An altercation between Lewis and the officers began and Lewis was then taken to the Stanly County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond. 

Lewis was charged with one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflict serious injury. 

He is expected to appear in court July 18 in Robeson County.
