A man was seriously injured in a shooting in western Rowan County early Wednesday morning.

According to the report at the Rowan Sheriff's Office, Ronald Wayne Freeze, 28, said that he was outside of his home on Phillips Hollow Road on Wednesday morning just before 1:30.

Freeze said he was smoking a cigarette while standing next to his rollback truck when he heard a sound.

Looking around, he noticed a man in a black hoodie and a half mask with a skull print, and that man was walking towards Freeze.

As the man approached, Freeze said "what's your problem?" Freeze replied that the man shouted profanity at him, then pointed a handgun at him and fired it.

The gunman then turned and ran towards Bradshaw Road.
