Saturday storms leave over 10K Mecklenburg, Lincoln Co residents without power

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Over 10,000 Mecklenburg and Lincoln County residents were without power for some time Saturday evening after strong storms swept through the area. 

According to Duke Energy, nearly 1,780 people lost power in north Charlotte and 1,324 Davidson residents were without power as of 7 p.m. Saturday evening. 

Duke Energy says over 740 residents in Lincoln County lost power and Rutherford Electric stated over 7,000 Lincoln County residents were without power as of 7 p.m. Saturday.

Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Iredell, Lincoln and Rowan counties were all under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 6:15 p.m. 

The counties of Burke, Catawba and Cleveland were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 5:15 p.m.

Crews have not said when the power will be restored.
