Wednesday storms leave power outages, damage in Charlotte area

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Crews worked overnight to clean up damage from Wednesday night's storms.

Several people were without power on Beatties Ford Road near McCoy Road in north Charlotte. The area was closed for a time as crews worked to restore the power.

Several hundred people in the Ballantyne area, just off Fairway Ridge Road, were also without power Thursday morning.

A woman sent in images of fallen trees in Huntersville, which appear to have fallen on top of a car. 

Officials in Caldwell County say trees toppled during Wednesday's thunderstorms caused major damage.

Caldwell County Emergency Services released several photos from Pibbs Drive, in the town of Sawmills, and Pinewood Avenue in Granite Falls that showed some of the damage.
