CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A man who was killed in a shooting inside a bar in west Charlotte Saturday night has been identified.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the shooting occurred around 10:43 p.m. inside the Tropical Bar, Restaurant and Game Room in the 4700 block of Tuckaseegee Road.

Police said they found 41-year-old Nelson Bismar Sosa inside the bar with a gunshot wound. Sosa was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he died.

Family members say Sosa was not just Charlotte's 47th homicide victim but he was a father, husband and a human being.  They want the shooter found right away.

CMPD tweeted about the homicide shortly before 11:30 p.m.

Officers believe Sosa and the shooter knew each other. Sosa and the shooter were both inside the bar when the shooting occurred, police say.

Many people say they are stunned Charlotte's murder rate is rising so quickly.  They want the killings to stop and are concerned about the connection between victims and suspects.

"Many of these people know," The Park Church Bishop Claude Alexander said. "It's not a stranger, it's someone with you have a difference and we got to learn how to de-escalate – de-escalation - that's not just for the police, all of us have to learn how to deescalate in order that we might live."

No arrests have been made in this shooting.

So far, Charlotte has had 47 homicides in 2017.

If you have any information about this shooting, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
