Three charged in Iredell County I-77 drug bust

IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Three West Virginia men were arrested in an Interstate 77 drug bust in Iredell County Thursday. 

Deputies say they stopped a Ford Fusion on I-77 southbound near mile marker 59 for a traffic violation and noticed all three occupants, 22-year-old Logan Powell, 22-year-old Nicholas Owens and 33-year-old Brian Sipe, had prior drug histories. 

Deputies say they searched the car and found a concealed handgun, a gram of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a sawed-off shotgun. 

The suspects were arrested and questioned at the Iredell County Sheriff's Office. 

Sipe was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and placed under a $10,000 secured bond. 

Owens was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, simple possession of schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of schedule III controlled substance and simple possession of schedule IV controlled substances. He was given a $5,000 secured bond. 

Powell was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and given a $1,500 secured bond.
