CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A large police presence responded to a situation in southeast Charlotte Wednesday evening.

Officials said a call came in around 6:20 p.m. for a suicidal person on the 8400 block of Shiredale Lane. Police, firefighters, and Medic all responded to the scene. Officers closed the road and were not letting traffic through.

At the scene, officers could be heard over a loudspeaker commanding someone to "come out with your hands up."

Just before 9 p.m. police said they determined the person was not in danger, but instead appeared intoxicated.
