CATAWBA COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

A man is accused of shooting and killing a man at his home near Claremont late Monday afternoon.

Deputies say 46-year-old Daniel Campbell got into an argument with Eric Goode at Goode's home on Hamlett Drive when Campbell fatally shot Goode. It happened around 4:20 p.m.

Campbell was arrested at his apartment just before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and charged with murder in Goode's death.

Goode's girlfriend told officials she heard a shot in the back bedroom and when she went to check it out, she found Goode dead on the floor with no one around.

Deputies believe the argument and shooting followed a previous confrontation between Goode and Campbell earlier that day. During Campbell's arrest, detectives say they found and seized two grams of meth, two long guns, and three pistols.

Cambell was placed in the Catawba County Detention Center without bond.

His first court appearance was set for 9 a.m. Tuesday in Newton.

A state regulator on Friday rejected Duke Energy’s request to raise customers rates in Charlotte, ordering it instead to cut those rates. The North Carolina Utilities Commission's order amounts to a rare denial for the Charlotte-based utility, which had sought its first rate hike since 2013 for central and western North Carolina.
