LANCASTER COUNTY, SC (WBTV) -

A man was arrested Thursday in connection to an armed robbery of a Papa John’s Pizza delivery driver in Lancaster County in November 2016.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Eric Neal Patton reportedly pointed what appeared to be a handgun wrapped in a sock at the delivery driver.

Deputies said the female delivery driver arrived at the intersection of Usher and Memorial Park Roads around 10 p.m. to look for the address that belonged to the pizza order. That is when a man approached her car and directed her to the next driveway, deputies say.

When the driver reached behind her to get the pizzas, that is when the robber demanded money and threatened to shoot her, according to deputies.

During the investigation, officials say they learned Patton is in custody in York County and charged with robberies in several jurisdictions, including the robbery of another Papa John’s delivery driver.

Deputies say Patton was living on Spanish Villa Lane in Lancaster during the time the Papa John’s robbery occurred. Spanish Villa Lane is one street over from Usher Road.

According to the sheriff's office, investigators determined a cell phone taken from Patton, when he was arrested in York County, was used to place the Papa John’s order in this armed robbery.

Patton is currently being held in the York County Detention Center. Patton was charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime in this incident.

Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile released this statement:

“This young lady was apparently lured by Patton to a dark and remote location for the sole purpose of being robbed and became one of several people he victimized.  Our investigator and the Fort Mill investigator did a lot of hard work to put together good cases on Patton.  We are fortunate he is in custody.”

Anyone with information about this armed robbery is asked to call the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388.
