JCSU’s Blaire Thomas Named to NCCSIA All-State Second Team
Charlotte, N.C. -- (April 10, 2017) –Johnson C. Smith University junior Blaire Thomas has been named as a second-team selection to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association (NCCSIA) College Division team.
Thomas, from Waterloo, Iowa, helped the JCSU women’s basketball team to the second CIAA Championship in program history. The Golden Bulls downed regionally-ranked Bowie State and nationally-ranked Virginia Union on the way to the CIAA title.
Thomas averaged 13.0 points per game and was fifth in the league in field goal percentage (78.9%). For her performances, she was named an All-CIAA First Team pick and was named the CIAA Tournament Most Valuable Player.
Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.
Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCCSSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball, softball, and baseball.
