CATAWBA COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

A body found in Catawba County Saturday morning has been identified as a 19-year-old Marco Eleocadio of Charlotte.

Officials say Eleocadio's body was found in a wooded area on River Road off of Highway 321 in Hickory. The sheriff said the death appears to be a homicide.

A homeowner in the area reportedly spotted the body near the road.

Deputies are trying to determine whether Eleocadio's body was dumped at the scene.

Neighbors to where the body was found were relieved that an ID was established and are hoping investigators can make progress now.

"This is just too close to home," said Ronda Krueger.

She says ever since Saturday morning she has been worried.

"I just want them to catch whoever did this and put them in jail."

Dennis Lawter, who lives just a few hundred yards from the crime scene, is concerned as well.

"It's terrible," he said.

Lawter also hopes authorities can solve the case soon. "This is a pretty quiet neighborhood, not much happens here."

No further information has been released.

We are getting a clearer picture now on the timing and arrival of rain for our First Alert Days Monday and Tuesday. We want to emphasize there is no severe weather threat this week, but just don't want anybody to get caught off guard by the heavy rain after such a beautiful weekend.
