Domino's driver robbed at gunpoint, attacked on Winthrop's campus

ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) -

A Domino's delivery driver was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint on the University of Winthrop's campus Thursday night.

According to the Winthrop University Police Department, the driver pulled into the Courtyard at Winthrop residence hall to deliver an order around 11:25 p.m. The driver then returned to his vehicle to count the money, officers say. 

Police say two black males then approached the driver’s car and demanded money. One of the robbers put a gun to driver's face, officers say.  

One of the robbers then began punching the driver in the face, according to police.

Police say both robbers fled the scene.

Officers say one of the robbers was wearing a dark blue hoodie that had red and white writing across the chest with white strings. The same robber robber was also wearing gray sweatpants and tan shoes. Police say the second robber was wearing a dark hoodie, dark jeans, white gloves and an orange backpack. 

The victim was taken to the Piedmont Medical Center with injuries to his face.

The driver’s condition has not been released.
