Three escape Gastonia house fire

GASTON COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

No one was injured in a Gastonia house fire early Monday morning. 

The Gastonia Fire Department says they were called to the fire around 1:59 a.m. at a home in the 300 block of South Highland Street. 

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the home. 

Three people inside were able to escape safely. 

Firefighters estimate the fire caused around $35,000 in damage and say the home is a total loss. 

The Red Cross is assisting the family. 

The cause remains under investigation.
