CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Duke Energy crews are working to restore power to more than 300 homes in Charlotte's University area after a car crashed into a power pole Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened on Alexander Pointe Drive, leaving homes in the area near Mallard Creek Church Road and N Tryon Street without power. Mallard Creek Church Road remains closed between Highway 29 and Interstate 85 at Alexander Pointe Drive due to the pole and lines still down.

Duke Energy hopes to have power restored to the 345 homes by 2:30 p.m. The restoration time has been pushed back throughout the day.
