Two people are recovering after a head-on collision on I-77 northbound near Gilead Road early Saturday morning.
Traffic was backed up for miles as both northbound lanes were closed for over an hour. Troopers say a driver went the wrong way on the exit ramp at Gilead Road and drove southbound in the northbound lanes. That driver hit another driver traveling north.
One of the cars burst into flames and troopers said the combined impact speed between the two cars was over 100 mph.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital but are expected to be okay.
Troopers say alcohol was a factor in the crash.
