This week is SEVERE WEATHER PREPAREDNESS WEEK in North Carolina and SEVERE WEATHER AND FLOOD SAFETY WEEK in South Carolina. And after we covered a couple Tornado Warnings in the WBTV viewing area last Wednesday, the timing is almost perfect.

Once again we have another storm system over the middle of the country moving into the southeast and the Carolinas bringing with it a line of showers and possible storms late Tuesday.

We have issued a First Alert Day in order to call attention to this disruptive weather. The good news is the severe weather threat appears limited this time, and it will arrive during the evening after the heaviest traffic has subsided and most folks are safely home. See the two accompanying pictures for the projected timing of the arrival of this line of showers or storms later today.

For folks in South Carolina using NOAA Weather Radios, the National Weather Service (NWS) will be conducting a Tornado Drill at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

This is a good time to review and practice your emergency plan whether at home, at school or work in case of an actual tornado. It’s very important to have a plan and not figuring it out when life-threatening weather is just outside your door.

At the exact same time Wednesday morning, the North Carolina weather radios will also be undergoing a routine monthly test, but you should treat this the same way and review your emergency plans.
