CANNON BALL, ND (WDAY/CNN) - Protesters of the Dakota Access Pipeline left a mess behind in Cannon Ball, ND. Equipment was brought in to clean up the camp.

The state is in a race against time to get the camp cleaned before floodwaters arrive. The cost to taxpayers is expected to be more than $1 million.

Authorities closed the site on Wednesday and Thursday, when 33 people were arrested, WDAY reports. On Wednesday 11 people were arrested, the report said.  None of the protesters who were arrested on Wednesday were from North Dakota, WDAY said.

Gov. Doug Burgum issued an evacuation order last week.
