Molly's Kids: Dallas, NC girl dies after long battle with cancer

Received this message last week. Stopped me from out of nowhere.

“Hi, Molly. My daughter Winter Gilliand, one of the September 2014 #MollysKids, passed away yesterday morning. While I am utterly heartbroken and learning to breathe again, I’m also going to pick up for myself and Winter’s twin sister, Sara. I often think people associate cancer as an ‘adult’ disease. Many don’t realize the aftermath and long-term effects can be worse the treatment or cancer itself.”

That was the case for Winter. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 3 and fought the rest of her life. Her family is in Dallas in Gaston County.

Original post explains more:

Didn't post about it until today because Michelle wanted some time to go through photos and find one she wanted to show publicly.

We’re so sorry, Michelle. Thank you for letting us know. I know many of us reading this right no are so very sorry to hear this for you, Sara and your
entire family. Lots of thoughts being sent to your entire family.

*Editor’s note: This is about one of #MollysKids, children WBTV Anchor Molly Grantham follows closely on her Facebook page. It was first published there – which is why it’s written in a personal way. For years Molly has followed hundreds of kids with uphill medical battles. Find this story (and updates on all #MollysKids) here.
