Water filtration system options

Paul Stefano, General Manager of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, stopped by WBTV News Saturday Morning to share information about home water filtration systems. Water quality is not improving in any city and purifying your water is quickly becoming a must. Stefano offered information on the benefits and different filtration system options depending on your budget.

Regenerating whole house water filter:
Filters the disinfectant of approximately 1.5 million gallons of water leaving great tasting, oxidizer free water at every point of use in your house.
Flushes the turbidity (dirt) usually every 1,000 gallons preserving the carbon for a longer life, usually around 10-12 years on the average.
About the size of 6 paint cans stacked on one another.
Usually installed in the garage.
Cost starts around $2,400.00.
No maintenance required.

Non regenerating whole house water filter (NRV):
Filters the disinfectant of approximately 300,000 gallons of water leaving great tasting, oxidizer free water at every point of use in your house.
Does not regenerate, so the life of the carbon is lessened to around 3 to 5 years on the average.
About the size of 6 paint cans stacked on one another.
Usually installed in the garage.
Cost starts around $1,600.00.
No maintenance required.
