CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A local Charlotte-based charity made a dream come true for one of our amazing #MollysKids.

Morgan Dunn, 19, from Matthews recently went into remission from Hodgkins Lymphoma. Dream On 3  grants sports dreams for local kids with special needs. Morgan, a former cheerleader from Independence High School who grew up in a family of athletes, said her dream was to watch her favorite NBA team play her second favorite team.

Her favorite team is the New York Knicks. Second favorite is the Cleveland Cavaliers. They played Wednesday night in Madison Square Garden.

Dream On 3 told Morgan to clear her calendar, but didn’t give specifics. They had her mom bring her to Concord Regional Airport on Tuesday with bags packed.

There they revealed a three day trip planned full of excitement and surprises, all thanks to the generosity of donors and sponsors who wanted to help Dream On 3 make Morgan’s dream come true.

It started with the transportation – a private plane to New York City.

“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh,” Morgan laughed. “That is so cool. I can’t believe this!”

Her dad, Jerry Dunn, couldn’t accompany his daughter and wife, but surprised them by showing up at the airport. He was supposed to be at work.

“Just to see the smile on her face, that’s what matters,” Jerry Dunn said. “She has been through a lot. I don’t think you’re ever prepared for what’s coming at you when you hear your child has cancer.”

“Morgan is an incredible lady,” said Elizabeth Lindsey, co-founder of Dream On 3. “She sees the world through a totally different lens. Her spirit is contagious. So is her personality. She is full of life and light and it just radiates.”

After arriving in New York City, Morgan and her mom went to see “The Lion King”, then hit the fashion district. Wednesday night was VIP treatment at the Knicks game in Madison Square Garden. Morgan got to meet superstar Carmello Anthony.

"I would like to say thank you so, so, so, so, so, so very much from bottom of my heart,” she said gleefully. “This isn't anything I could imagine doing and I'm so grateful to you guys for giving me this experience."
