“Speak Out” is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Scott Dempsey.
As we all begin to crowd the shopping malls and large “box stores” in search for the perfect gift for those friends and family we love, a sense of community will become more evident due to the holiday season and cheer.
This year as a consumer, go local with some of your shopping, and visit stores that might be right around the corner from your home. Within Charlotte, there are many areas that are growing quickly with new small businesses. It is a great way to find unique gifts while showing your support here in our city!
Shopping at a local store will not only allow you to start relationships with the family and owner of the store, but can open doors for you to learn their story and reason for their enthusiasm with their business. Their livelihood depends on our support.
Remember, shopping local allows any dollars spent, to be recycled through our community and economy here in Charlotte. Let’s all work together this year to not only bring cheer and support to those special people in our lives, but also those around us in our community.
