WEATHER: More rain to roll in tonight, tomorrow

After a cool, cloudy and damp Sunday dominated by beneficial rain, we'll get a bit of a break today before more rain rolls in here again tonight and Tuesday morning.

Expect mostly cloudy skies today, but there will be some thin spots at times, perhaps even some sunshine, especially north of Charlotte. With this, highs recover back to the 50s for the afternoon.

By this evening, the second round of rain arrives and will likely be heavier than the first round. Most of this batch of rain will be over with by midday Tuesday, but highs once again won't make it out of the 40s for most.

The Monday night/Tuesday morning rain will likely add up another 1 - 2 inches, meaning a 3-day rain total will likely be on the order of 1 1/2 - 3".

Another front races through on Thursday, but not much rain is expected with this. However, this next front is packing seriously cold air which will drive our highs back into the 40s with lows heading down into the teens and low 20s toward the weekend!  A slow moderation in temperatures will come early next week, but this late week blast will bring the coldest air so far this season.
