A Lenoir man was charged with having drugs on school property Wednesday.

The Lenoir Police Department says they responded to a call around 7:48 a.m. regarding three men parked in the Hibriten High School parking lot who looked suspicious.

Police say one of the men in the vehicle, 27-year-old Cold David Everhart, had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Officers seized the drugs and charged Everhart with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, deliver or possess a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of school property. The drugs were valued at around $225.

Everhart is scheduled to appear in court in Caldwell County Thursday.

"The Lenoir Police Department and Caldwell County School System take the responsibility of the safety of the students and staff at our schools very seriously," police say.

Hibriten High School is located in Panther Trail in Lenoir.
