Glorious rain

Hi everyone, this is Paul Cameron at my desk in the WBTV Newsroom.

Wasnt todays rain glorious?  Its dousing wildfires and putting water back in the lakes.  The question is, how much can we expect when another front moves through tomorrow?  Eric Thomas has answers in his First Alert Forecast.

What a disaster the area around Gatlinburg has become.  In one night, an estimated 100 buildings, most of them homes, burned to the ground.  Experts say the 70 mph winds turned wildfires into a giant blowtorch.  Its a sad sight for those whove vacationed in the Great Smoky Mountains.  Even worse, the death toll tonight stands at five people who perished.

A surprise out of Raleigh tonight.  The General Assembly is ordered by a federal judge to redraw 28 state house and senate districts before next March 15th.  Plus, they'll have to hold a special primary followed by a general election next November.  So, if you didnt get your fill of elections this fall, just wait until spring.

The first flight from Charlotte to Havana, Cuba goes wheels up tomorrow and our reporter Sara-Blake Morgan will be on it.  Look for her reports on the early evening newscasts.

Tonight please join Molly Grantham, Eric Thomas, Delano Little and me for WBTV News at 11:00!
